Unfinished ideas need room to breathe
Publishing notes before they become essays creates a more honest record of learning.
An idea often disappears because we ask it to arrive complete. A public notebook gives early thoughts somewhere to live while they are still changing shape.
Notes are allowed to be provisional
The value of a note is not that it has the last word. It captures a useful model at a particular moment, with enough context for a future version of me to continue.
Writing reveals the missing edges
Explaining an idea forces it to touch reality. Vague confidence turns into specific questions, and those questions become the next thing to learn.
